Our Story
The original lö-lu sauna was carefully crafted from a converted 1987 bread truck, built with the help of friends and family on the family farm in southeast Ohio. Our dedication to craftsmanship extends to your experience, ensuring every sauna visit is relaxing, rejuvenating, and uniquely yours.
Unlike most Finns who grow up with sauna as a normal part of life, my interest in sauna was kindled in 2018 while finishing my studies. Our newly-built family sauna provided a space to bring our family and friends together when siblings or friends came in from out-of-state. Plans for a mobile sauna were dreamt-up while living in Colorado during the pandemic. Upon returning to Ohio in 2021, I had the support necessary to make these plans a reality, informed by self-designed sauna research trips to the upper Midwest and Finland itself, sauna’s homeland. Sauna has been a place for community, meditation, and wellness for me, and I believe that sauna, practiced in the centuries-long and culturally-rich Finnish tradition can do the same for so many others. I hope to share that tradition with you.
Whether you seek solitude or a shared experience with loved ones and the growing sauna community, the lö-lu sauna provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s a space to disconnect and immerse yourself in the warmth of authentic Nordic tradition.
